Portfolio > Blue Jay Opuscule

Artist Statement

The work displayed is part of the Blue Jay Opuscule series. The series is a result of a collaboration between musician and composer Tony Steve and visual artist Barry Wilson. The musician is composing sound that captures color and shape and the artist is depicting sound.

The open narrative of the Blue Jay Opuscule involves the transformation of a blue jay progressing from a dark quiet pre dawn state to a bright raucous and exuberant daytime flight through a garden. Working from within this framework Wilson has interpreted the music composed by Steve. This project was funded in part by a grant from the Jacksonville Community Foundation.
